A farm park in Yorkshire has told of its devastation and shock after lambs and goats inside a barn had been killed in a fire.

Piglets Adventure Farm, at Towthorpe Grange near York, said 10 lambs and two goats had been killed after inhaling smoke from a fire in the early hours of Sunday morning (March 17).

Workers at the farm had managed to stop the fire and rescue most of the animals inside the barn.

The owners said the reported cause of the fire had been from a heat lamp which had been used to keep the lambs warm.

Speaking after the incident, the owners said the incident had left them 'shaken'.
