West Yorkshire Police has been praised after sharing the very odd reason it was forced to close the entrance to its firearms training area.

The force shut the area “for the time being” after a Thrush set up a nest outside the area with the mother sitting on four eggs.

On a social media post, the Wildlife & Rural Crime unit shared a picture of the cordoned off area with a note that reads: “No entry, active birds nest with eggs.”

The post did not say when the entrance would reopen. It reads: “A Thrush has set up a nest just outside one of the entrances to our Firearms training area. The entrance has been closed for the time being and mother is currently sitting on four eggs without any disturbance”
