A trio caught hare coursing near Nuneaton told police they were out for a walk. As part of an ongoing sting, code-named operation Galileo, members of Warwickshire Police's Rural Crime Team pounced on the suspects.

It followed reports that the three men were hare coursing, just off the A5 near Nuneaton and the border with Leicestershire. They caught the trio a short distance away on Hydes Lane.

The suspects were found to be in possession of two dogs. Both dogs were of breeds associated with those used in hare coursing incidents. "All the males denied coursing, stating they were out for a walk, nowhere near a footpath and without the landowner's permission." the RCT said.
