An MP has encouraged farmers to use an app which can track people's location within a three metre radius when facing an emergency after a number of fire related incidents on farms.

MP Kevin Hollinrake, for Thirsk and Malton, said he was concerned North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service had attended four farm fires in the space of two days last month.

One of the incidents included his constituency if Sutton-on-the-Forest when 80 hay bales were on fire in a farmer's field which stretched 400 metres by 200 metres.

Mr Hollinrake encouraged farmers to use the app, What3Words, which helps emergency services locate an individual's location with a resolution of three metres.
