A number of sheep suffered what police described as 'horrifically painful deaths' during a livestock attack in a Cheshire field. Officers from the Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team were called to a field near the footpath between Church Lane, Gawsworth, and North Rode on Sunday (October 2).

They arrived to find there had been a livestock attack in which five sheep had been killed. Officers said it was the second Sunday 'in a month' it had happened at this location.

Police are now investigating the incident and have called on dog owners to keep their pets 'under control'. They're also appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
