Two men have been arrested after a vehicle was stopped the M6 by police.
Cumbria Constabulary’s driver training team stopped the Land Rover Freelander that was towing a trailer on the southbound carriageway at around 11.20am today, September 21, between Junctions 42 and 41.
A 33-year-old man from Merseyside was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods, driving a vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug over the specified limit, using a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance and driving while disqualified.
A 25-year-old man from Merseyside have been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods. Both remain in police custody.
The investigation is part of Operation Lantern, which targets rural crime in Cumbria.
