Five ewes that are due to lamb soon were stolen overnight from a village in East Staffordshire. The sheep were taken between 11pm and 5am overnight on between Friday night and Saturday morning, April 7 and 8.

The five in-lamb ewes were stolen from the Dogshead Lane area in Barton under Needwood. A spokesman for the Staffordshire Police Rural and Wildlife Crime team shared what had happened and appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

They said: "Five in lamb ewes have been stolen from the Dogshead Lane area. All ewes were ear tagged and were due lamb imminently.
