Police issue update on potential cause of Delamere Forest fire

POLICE have urged anyone with information about the recent fire at Delamere Forest to get in touch, as their investigation so far suggests a disposable barbecue could be at fault.

The fire broke out on Tuesday (July 19) when eight fire engines were originally deployed to the popular beauty spot at Ashton Road after receiving reports from a forest ranger at around 5.40pm.

Fire crews spent almost 24 hours at the scene before declaring it ‘fully damped down’.

Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team posted on social media updating the public on possible causes, and is urging anyone with information to contact them.
