A pensioner has been banned from driving for causing a crash that forced a horse to be put down and left its rider injured and mentally scarred. Christopher John Wixey ploughed into the back of a horse and its female rider as he drove his Blue Seat Toleda along Tysoe Road in Kineton.
Warwickshire Police's Rural Crime Team (RCT) said the collision caused the horse to suffer 'significant damage to its rear legs and the back of its body'. "The horse was subsequently put to sleep by vets at the roadside," a spokesperson said.
The rider hit the ground with such force she sustained physical harm 'amounting to grievous bodily harm'. PC Adam Fletcher said: "Christopher Wixey drove in a careless and inconsiderate way and this is reflected in the sentence.
