A farm worker is 'very lucky' to be alive after suffering a 'very deep' laceration to their thigh.

Emergency services were called to a field near Coldwell Reservoirs, Nelson, following reports that the person 'had slipped while exiting a tractor'. Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team (RPMRT) said the laceration was 'very lucky to have missed femoral blood vessels'.

The callout to mountain rescue volunteers was made by North West Ambulance Service at 9.20pm on Monday (September 4). When two of the team members arrived at the scene they found the casualty had been transported back to the road in a quad trailer.
