Deer shot in face with crossbow bolt in a 'terrible act'

A deer has been photographed with a crossbow bolt in its face after being shot in the Forest of Dean. Shocked police said the creature was the victim of a 'terrible act' but despite its wound, which is believed to be old, it is managing as well as it can.

An image of the deer after it was shot in the head has been shared by police on social media. Several men have been seen with a crossbow in woodland in the Coleford area, prompting a police warning and an appeal for information.
